<p>Shouldn't it be the other way around? Cure your general anxiety first, then cure anxiety attacks? Well, that's the mainstream approach. Basically, you have anxiety attacks because you suffer from general anxiety. Which is true; anxiety attacks usually happen to someone with higher daily anxiety levels than someone without anxiety.</p>
<p>But the problem here is that someone who has fallen victim to an anxiety attack never wants a repeat performance. The symptoms are just too overwhelming. So they are continually fearful about having more attacks. And here's the key; that 'fear' of another attack can actually produce one! </p>
<p>This is what you might call the 'cycle of anxiety'. It goes something like this: anxiety / anxiety attack / fear (of another attack) / anxiety / anxiety attack / fear / anxiety / and so on.</p>
<p>O.K. but doesn't prescription medication deal with all this?</p>
<p>These drugs can be very effective in reducing the symptoms of anxiety and anxiety attacks. </p>
<p>Typical medications are anti-depressants, anti-anxiety (minor tranquilizers) or beta-blockers. They all work in different ways, but they all just work on the symptoms, they can't do much about the root causes of anxiety, or, the fear of other anxiety attacks.</p>
<p>And they all have negative side effects to varying degrees. Things like weight gain, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, headaches, confusion, sleep problems, agitation, amnesia, hallucinations, fatigue, lethargy, dependency, and many more, even anxiety itself!</p>
<p>But there are other therapies aren't there?</p>

<p>Learning how to control panic attacks can become essential if you are a chronic sufferer. It can ruin all areas of your life and make daily life nearly unbearable. These techniques will teach you how to control panic attacks and start getting back to a normal way of living.</p>
<p>The first technique is to begin to pay attention. Often times our thoughts begin to race a mile a minute and this causes us to be unable to control panic attacks. Slow down, recognize what is going on around you, and start to respond. Action is the sign of a person in control, not responding to what is going on.</p>
<p>The second technique is to practice meditation and breathing techniques. Meditation allows us to develop the ability to gain a clear perspective on things inside of us, circumstances in our lives, and how to deal with both. Breathing works as a tool that allows us to control panic attacks by maintaining control of our body. </p>
<p>Breathing properly forces us to slow down and pay attention. It also gives us our breathing to focus on instead of that which is causing stress.</p>
<p>The third technique is to logically pay attention. When we want to control panic attacks, we really want to control our emotions. When we react to situations from an emotional stand point, we react in ways that do not create the greatest outcome. We must learn to act, instead of react, from a logical point of view. Often times we feel that we are in danger, and this causes anxiety. When we logically look at things, we very quickly realize that our mind is making this danger up and that there is nothing to worry about.</p>
<p>If you are able to control your panic attacks, you'll find yourself able to relax a lot more, and thus live a lot more enjoyable life. </p>
<p>Use the 3 techniques outlined above, and you'll find yourself enjoying every single day on this earth a whole lot more.</p>

<p>Just do a search online and you will find anxiety "experts" rehashing the same old-fashioned ideas; think happy thoughts, Brown Paper bags, do your breathing etc. I am sure you have come across them a million times before already. Simply band-Aids!</p>
<p>How are people supposed to solve their anxiety issues if they are continuously exposed to these techniques and methods that only teach people to cope with... but not end anxiety and panic attacks? Real solutions are needed. </p>
<p>Actually, there is a new drug free method that will end anxiety and panic attacks forever. It was developed by a fellow named Joe Barry. He has taught thousands of people in over 30 different countries how to end anxiety and panic attacks, a program that works for people of all ages.</p>
<p>Barry recently shared a little sample of his program. It is a very simple way to help end the fear of a PANIC ATTACK . This is a very good exercise for people who want something practical to focus their attention on when they feel the pressure of a panic attack building. It's very simple and easy to remember. Here goes...</p>
<p>It is the 20 Second Countdowns. When you feel the sensations of a panic attack building do the following: Tell the panic that it has 20 seconds to initiate the full panic attack.</p>
<p>That's right; 20 seconds and no more. After the 20 seconds are complete it must stop making empty threats. You are allowing 20 seconds for it to fully manifest but not a second more. Whatever the bodily sensation is that you fear, it must happen within that 20 second time frame.</p>
<p>? If you heart is going to explode then it has 20 seconds to do so.<br />
? If you are going to lose control, then your mind has 20 seconds to do so.<br />
? If you are going to faint -- 20 seconds! But absolutely no more time than that.</p>
<p>Basically, what he is saying is that by setting a specific time frame you actually can establish boundaries of control. You turn it into a game where you call fear's bluff. As he says, if it were a poker game, you are asking anxiety to show its hand. This works because it establishes a sense of control within your mind and body.</p>
<p>You think to yourself "I am not prepared to spend my time worrying about this. I've had enough. I am going to be generous and give it 20 seconds but after 20 seconds and nothing has happened then the opportunity has officially passed and I am going to go back to what I was doing." Then start counting....but nice and slow, don't rattle it off as fast as you can. Really tease it out like you did when you were a child and you never wanted to reach zero. Teasing it out is the key because it allows you to feel generous and that you are giving anxiety every chance possible. Deep down you know there is really nothing to fear.</p>
<p>To really help tease it out, break the last few numbers into fractions. By not rushing through the countdown you will feel your confidence soar because you are demonstrating real control and authority over your anxious thoughts and bodily sensations. You are saying, "look, I am really trying to give you all the time I can to unleash X, Y, and Z, I am being very generous here with this countdown.</p>
<p>This exercise is a small, but effective, part of Joe Barry's highly successful program. If you suffer from anxiety or panic attacks, this program may be the solution to rid you of that internal demon, the anxiety and absolute fear that is so disruptive of your life...forever</p>
